Tom Selleck was born on January 29, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan. The Selleck family moved to Sherman Oaks, California, when Tom was a child, which is where he spent most of his formative years. He attended Grant High School and later enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC) on a basketball scholarship. Initially majoring in Business Administration, Selleck discovered his passion for acting during his college years, leading him to switch his focus and study at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
